I've lurked around long enough and I think it's time to just ask the experts...
My wife wanted a different head unit for her VW Beetle so she could control her Ipod and Xm through it. She didn't want anything outlandish, just a simple radio so I went with Pioneer's DEH-4000UB. Since her bug has a Monsoon system, I want to yank all that out and replace it with aftermarket goodies.
She's got 4 6.5 speakers in the car (2 in the door and 2 in the rear). Since the car is so small, I've been told comps will be too much and I should go with coaxial 6.5s. Sound right?
Along with the head unit, I have 2 older Fosgate amps (120x2 and 360x2), two 10in subs, and two 8in subs I can use (of course I don't want to use all those subs...maybe one 10 or two 8s).
Given that information and about a $400-$500 budget, what does everyone recommend I do to this thing? My biggest problem is figuring out whether or not to go comp or coaxial and which speaker at that point.
Thanks!
