I just installed an amp/sub to the stock unit in a 2012 Focus (6 speaker option). The amp worked for about a day and a half (maybe 30 min run time), and now is in protection mode. At least I'm guessing thats what it is.. the manual isn't exactly helpful (for one, it says see troubleshooting section for help if it goes into protection mode, and there is no troubleshooting section). There is a red LED amidst the blue ones on both sides, and Im not getting any voltage out of the speaker terminals.
Little more info about the setup:
Cadence Flash F700-1 Amplifier
Memphis M5 series 15-M512D4 12" Sub, Dual 4ohm VC wired in parallel
4awg from battery to amp with two inline fuses (80 amp each, couldve sworn I bought 60. Amp has dual 30 amp fuses)
4awg ground (ring connector around spare tire screwdown)
14awg THHN remote (signal detect isnt working for some reason) to 25amp fuse in rear box (hooked up manually for use currently, as this fuse labeled audio amp is always hot for some reason.. and I cant find any fuse taps thatll work on mini-blades)
12awg (I believe) speaker wire from amp to sub box terminals
14awg THHN from inside sub terminal to subs
14awg speaker wire from tap-ins on rear speakers to high level input on amp (now trying with LOC, still no luck)
14awg THHN ground from LOC to same spot as amp ground
1.258cf sub box, 1.25cf recommended
Never set the gain to max, since amp supplies more power than the sub can handle.. never turned it up loud enough to get distortion from sub. I've unplugged everything except power/ground/remote and restarted the amp (left it unplugged for 2 min), and it still wont come out of protection.
I did notice though that I am for some reason seeing 3ohms at the sub box rear terminals. Any reason for this? Could it be the cause?
Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.. thanks.
