need help with budget sub ideas

Hey everyone,

This is my first post so it's good to meet everyone. I have a question about upgrading my current stock system in a 97 Ford Contour. The stock speakers actually don't sound too bad but I'm really missing some good punch in the low end so I want to put in an amp and sub combo. I don't listen to much hip hop or dance music so I don't need anything really "bumpy", just something to add some good clean sounding punch to fill out the sound. My budget is $3-400. There are so many out there in this price range that I have no idea what to get. Also, should I get dual subs or just one? I don't have an extrodinary amount of trunk space but I could drop in two. Let me know what your thoughts are. Thanks.

your factory speakers "don't sound too bad" because you haven't changed em yet

for that budget i would probably look at 2004 model infinity reference speakers/subs thy are really cheap now, you can replace your stock speakers and add a 1230w/sealed box/decent amp for that money
