Need help with buddies system.....

So my friend got a '97 Blazer(I have an '01) and when you turn on the car, the HU will turn on, but no music will play through the speakers. Well, he wants me to look at it since I have a Blazer too, and I have knowledge in car audio. But the problem is that i've only dealt with subs and amps. So could you guys tell me where to look for the problem? He says the owner said it's bad wires...but you know how that is.......any answers would be helpful. Thanks,

That's the first logical thing to look at.. Make sure all the wires are connected and not cut anywhere. If it's all the speakers its likely a problem around the headunit, or if there's a stock amp, check that out too.

Yeah, it kinda sucks cause there are many things it could be since none of the speakers work.

There's your problem. There should be a Bose amp somewhere and you'll need to bypass that with a GM bypass plug-in, or if that's not the case, the internal amp on the HU might be dead.

Take the deck out, hook it up to a 12 volt power supply and check the internal amp by hooking up a spare speaker to each channel of the HU. If it still has sound, then your problem is not in the HU.
