Hello all,

I'm new to these forums and I.C.E. but not foreign to the performance aspect of vehicles. I have a few things on the way and just had some questions if anyone would care to help.

I ordered a Pioneer Premier TS-W2502D4 10"

The specs are here:

And basically i'm wondering if this amp from elemental designs will be ok for it

Nine.1

Specs:

1200W x 1 @ 1 Ohm900W x 1 @ 2 Ohm

450W x 1 @ 4 Ohm
This was the other amplifier I was considering: Kicker 08ZX750.1

I can get the kicker brand new for 230 and the nine.1 used for 200

Also, a local dealer is selling this amp kit. Would anyone recommend it for this setup?

^^ Any good? Will I need to upgrade to the ANL?

Again, it's a pleasure to be on this board and to be surrounded by veterans of car audio equipment.

Thanks,

Vang

I assume you'll be wiring the sub @ a 2 ohm load. If that's the case, the ED 9.1 amp will slightly overpower the sub. It should be fine. Just be a little careful when adjusting your gains.

The Kicker amp will underpower the sub slightly, but that should be okay too. Don't max out the gain.

The amp kit should suffice too. It isn't anything spectacular, but it should do the trick...

Ah great, thanks for the super fast and thorough response. Do you recommend the ANL upgrade for the amp kit?

I should've came on here before I ordered anything. Honestly, how is this subwoofer? The claims in power are awfully high but i'm sure that it could be the same case as car parts claiming more horsepower then they really put out right?

All i'm really looking for is something to rattle my head a little when i'm cruising to some hip hop or trance, nothing to the point of my ears bleeding or my vision blurred from vibrations.

Misfit's got the truth...

Wire them in parallel, for a 2 ohm load. I have 2 of those subs (older series, but nearly identical), and if you tune and power them properly, you won't be disappointed.

Both amps are excellent choices, but the eD should do just fine for you. Be wary of their customer service, but since you are running it at 90%, I think it's an excellent choice. Just don't mount it to your box (vibration damage), or abuse it heavily, and you'll be very pleased. No electrical upgrades needed.

If you plan on showing off, the Kicker will get respect from (almost) anyone, and is a great choice too. Good resale, efficient, and difficult to break.

Use the gain setting tutorial on this site (and a multimeter), so that the AC voltage across the speaker terminals is ~40 V AC. Remember 60 Hz, 3/4 headunit volume (or max listening volume), max bass knob, and keep an eye/ear for distortion and bottoming out.

This should be plenty of boom for a modded Z-car... One of my best buds drives a Datsun 280z (gutted for racing). Beyond jealous of ya'll.

Edit: the sub will do rated, and fusing, as long as it's above 80 amps (up to 150 for that wire), and 4 gauge, you're good.

Awesome! Thanks man.

You guys are a LOT friendlier then I anticipated. I've seen newbies get grilled by the performance guys for asking newb questions.

Unfortunately, I won't be installing the setup but I will request that it be wired parallel for a 2 ohm load. (I mean if i'm paying a professional shop they'd better know how to do this lol)

And thanks for mentioning that the amp shouldn't be anywhere on my box. I've seen a couple of cheaper all-in-one setups at work with the amp on the box (xplode, fusion, and dual).
