Strokers go bump bump
Ive got a Jbl 1200.1 mono amp its 1200 rms it has 2 speaker outs.

Im trying to hook up a cerwin vega stroker 15 dvc 4 ohms per voice coil + 1200 RMS.

So my question is how should i hook this sub up to the amp to get the 1200 rms?

Last time i hooked it up in to one of the speaker ports on the amp and i would think it was getting 1200 rms and wired correct but..

It ran for like 5 mins or so and then i had the power issue im guessing i need a power cap for the monster.. But then it stoped working all togather so i found out i blew my fuse.. dont know how that woulda happened but i replaced it and drove home and it was working better than ever and then it started cutting in and out. So i pulled over and checked it and it was blowing smoke out of the ports so i shut it off and im pretty sure i fried it. Now im buying a new cv 15 and wanna do it correct this time. Any suggestions ? thanks a bunch ! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

As I am unfamiliar with those amps tell me this - does it do 1200 watts @ 2 Ohms or 1 Ohm?

Having a Dual 4 Ohm driver your wiring options are 2 Ohm with the coils wired in parallel and 8 Ohms with the coils wired in series.

I would imagine that 8 Ohms won't convince the amp to give you 1200 watts so the 2 Ohm option would seem to make the most sense.

Whichever model # it is doesn't particularly matter for the sake of this discussion (not trying to be ugly - just stating fact)

If the minimum impedence load is 2 Ohms then to me that suggests that it will do 1200 watts @ 2 ohms. Since 2 Ohms is one of your wiring options with a Dual 4 Ohm sub then I would say you're golden //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Connect both voice coil positives to the positive output on the amp and then follow suit for the negatives (wiring in parallel) to get your 2 Ohm nominal impedence and viola!
