I am new never upgraded a system and I want to know what all do I need to complete the set-up from wires to fuses and everything. Be specific on power, kind, colors and watts and all that stuff. So far I have

2 sony xpod sub 12" at 1200 watts each

is this all you want to add or do you want to go with head units and other speakers?

its unlikely that if you have the stock audio that you'll have spare channels to hook amps upto.. at best only 1 rca output.

you need to be more specific about what kind of car you have and what you plan on doing for the sound system. Once you let us know that, it will be a lot easier to help you!

Well my ride is a 1998 honda civic dx and im using a panasonic 4by 50 watt headunit and yes I will replace all factory speakers. the subs rear and front speakers are all xpod sony and i want to keep the had unit plus the amp is xpod - sony too but im nt sure what the wattage or # of channels should be to power this stuff. The font and rear speakers are like 180w(front)not sure and rears are 220w(rear). ALso I need specifications on what wires fuses and etc. As for budget I dont care as Im gonna get it for free! whoohh!, but I want to use the components above so dont say ditch thoe and get something more expensive thanks!

ok...things you'll need:

1. wiring harness for the head unit.

2. amp wiring kit.

3. rca interconnects for between the amp and the head unit (could come with the kit, maybe not)

4. speaker wiring (to upgrade the factory crap)

5. time (figure a weekend)

6. fuses and exactly what wiring kit to get depends on your amp. What is it?

Well now here is my ? I would need a 2200 watt amp or higher? or can I get an amp with less amperage and more channels. I dont know what kind of amp to get with wht capacities.

what is the rms on the sony speakers? you dont want to go by the Max power your power should be as close to the speakers rms or continuous rating as possible. also make sure that your getting the right impedance on your amp. for help on that check rockford's site and use their wiring wizard.

buy your stuff and bring it to a store. you sound like you have not read about this anywhere and are starting from scratch. if you dont know anything about basic electronics than this is going to be nigh on impossible for you.

go read some basic information (tutorials) and search these forums. get on google and search for these kind of walkthrough articles. you have been completly vague with everything, and we cannot help you if you cannot tell us what equipment you have.

learn some of the lingo, read up on everything, and when you have a sense on what to do, we will be able to help you.

otherwise, go to a store, and have them install it and show you how to while they are doing it.

ive not meant to be offensive at all guy =P but please, read about this before you start playing with all this current. 2200 watts is alot, but i dont believe for one second that your sony amps produce anywhere near that.

ummm..... no offense but what you type dont make sense.....

"these are the speakers..... will they work with this sub......"

any speakers will work you just need the right amps.......

like req said you need to learn alot more before doing this.......

Ok im being good so will the ams I got power the subs and the speakers? I got 2 amps of the same kind and the subs are 1100 watts not 1200 sorry, but is there a way wire tese things cuz i really wanna use them.
