So heres my situation.

I have a 2005 Acura TL and I just installed an amp and subwoofer. I kept the stock HU so I used an LOC to connect to the stock subwoofer wires. I have spent days trying to get the sub to sound right and I just cant seem to do it. I was hoping someone could help me with the tuning. I am only using the LOC and amp for one sub.

Heres my set up

Headunit Settings

Bass -6 to +6

Treb -6 to +6

Subwoofer -6 to +6

Amp

Input Level (Gain?)

LP Filter 32hz to 320hz

HP Filter 20 to 80 (im asuming this is khz, but i really dont know)

The LOC is turned to about 25%

Any help would be awesome

About two weeks ago I installed the same type of subwoofer in my car and had the LOC turned all the way up and that caused the sub to blow. However my friend that gave me the sub forgot to tuen down the gain and bass boost down so I think that combination caused it to blow. Is there anyway to tell if the sub is close to blowing?

doesn't make too much sense, you'd have to have the LOC send a clipped signal to the amp and you'd have to have the volume at a mid to high volume. that would be a user error not the LOC's fault.

Ok so as long as the clip light on the amp does not go on the sub shouldn't blow right?
what amp you got that indicates a clipped signal? considering that the signal is not clipped and the wattage does not cause thermal failure to the voice coil, sure it wont blow.

that "clip" led indicator is useless unless the amp is mounted on your dash. you'd have to have your amp tuned with an osciliscope to make sure you are not getting a clipped signal otherwise you're just guessing.
