Need help.Trying to install new speakers in a pontiac torrent 08

Im replacing the stock speakers in my pontiac torrent.The speakers i bought are pioneer 3 way with a built in tweeter.the two wires that were connected to the stock speaker are tan and gray.I connected the wires to the new speaker and no sound i traced back the two wires and they go into the tweeter that was with the stock speakers what do i need to do?This is on the drivers side front

both gray wires need to be connected together at the factory tweeter. Likewise for tan.

the tweeter has one gray & one tan that went straight to the connections on the speaker.what i did was took off the connection on the stock speaker then cut the wires cuz the piece wouldnt go on the new one took the two wires w crimp on connections on one end and i wire nut each wire one neg and one positive and connected the speaker.I appreciate you helping me cuz this aggrivated the hell out of me do i need some type of harness? does the origanal tweeter need to be connected still if the new speakers i have has the speaker and tweeter in one
