I have been very pleased with my SD-2 8 D4 - Sundown Audio 8" 300W rms being pushed by a bridged JL hd600/4 since I installed it few years back with help from you guys here in caraudio.
Couple months ago the front right channel of my hd600/4 started intermittently cutting in and out and thought it was just a bad wiring. I rechecked all my wiring with no avail problem still persist. I just put up with it and left it as it is until I lost the sub. Sent the amp to JL audio $180 out of pocket they replaced 3 parts and came back to me after 4 weeks it was sent.
Hooked the amp back front channels works like a champ however the sub was putting out a very faint sound like a full range speakers. Removed the sub from box and tested with multimeter both voice coil connector showed at least 3.5 ohms and wired it back to 8 ohms config and plugged it back together with same result. Made sure the clips are tight on the speaker posts connections and posts measured 6.5 ohms.
I have a spare sub box and that works fine with the refurbed amp. Did my dying amp killed my sub? Is there any other way to diagnose this subwoofer before buying a new one?
