the problem with saving your stuff is make sure you scan it before you save it. i had a virus a few months ago that attached to my mp3 files and when i loaded it onto my newly reformatted drive i had to reformat it again. lol its crazy what some a$$holes think up to piss normal people off.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/nono.gif.eca61d170185779e0921b0faa9704973.gif

It won't let me into the command prompt to get into safe mode. Is there another way?
if is a desktop pull the plug and restart it will pop a black or blue screen up saying it shut down unexpectadly and how do you wanna start. there will be some options there and safe mode will be one of them.... lap top pull the plug and the battery

my laptop does not have the f12 option and i dont do ****. i do download alot of movies and songs though....

I got 180 gigs of music on my external drive hopefully it didn't get in there I unplugged it asap.

I googled the ntrootkit and I guess its a hacker tool to insert more shit into your computer through backdoors. this sux

if you have an external drive chances are you will be okay but your internal drive i would just reformat it to be safe. it takes a few hours and you lose everything on the internal drive but its better to be safe than sorry later when the virus frys your setup ..... lol good luck again

Ok I'm in safe mode but how do I get to system restore..I can't access the control panel from anywhere..and there's no my computer icon or anything...I can probably access a comand prompt when I restart but what command is for system restore?

Thanks for your help

if i remember correctly the system restore is in the control panel but if you cannot get to the control panel im not sure. what operating system do you have and i will look it up xp home, pro, vista, me, MAC,

Ok I got the control panel now I got in as administrator so now all my stuff is kinda back in safe mode.

All I see is a system restore tab in the control panel that allows you to turn system restore on or off. Currently the box is unchecked so system resore is on.

How do I acutally restore it tho lol...oh and I have access to the Run command window now.
