Need Help Please

For my science fair project, I wanted to see how box tuning affected output, primarily the peak frequency of the system. I think I'm confused as to what box tuning actually does. I've been trying to research but it's still not clear to me. I got decent spectrum analysis using audacity. I tested a box tuned to 35, 38, 41, 44, 47, and 50hz, playing a 20-120hz sine sweep and recording in in audacity. With the mic up front the freq analysis looked pretty much the same for every trial, it peaked at like 51hz every time. When I did it with the mic near the entrance to the port, I got different peaks, but there didn't seem to be any pattern. Can someone please fill me in on what's going on?
