After reviewing several options for over a year to upgrade from my factory radio and waiting a year for the 2013 newly released Pioneer AVIC Z150BH app radio unit I was very disappointed to learn that I cannot use the one feature with my Android phone that I was really counting on to use, and that was app radio.
Prior to purchase, I confirmed with the vendor that the AVIC Z150BH Pioneer unit supports my Droid Razr Max with Bluetooth streaming....but the little unknown fact that Pioneer did not reveal to is that the app radio program was written to only support Android OS 2.3.6 (which is basically the OS that was in place when android phones entered the market place) My Droid Razr Max is now on OS 4.1.2. Had this been disclosed by Pioneer prior to purchase (and my added expense of an install), I would have never picked this unit. I called Pioneer direct, and they have no clue when they are going to play Andriod OS catch up. In the meantime, I have no ability to download anything to my Pioneer unit, and I'm screwed until/if/when they ever do.
Apparently, Pioneer is supporting the popularity of Apple despite more and more people migrating to Android, they are not the slightest bit interested in making sure their apps are current and compatible with the most recent OS release. When I contacated customer service direct, I just get the basic "keep calling us for updates!" which is of no consequence to me.
If I had an iPhone 5, there would be no issue. However, work is paying for my cell phone, getting an iPhone on my dime is not an option.
I am really wracking my brain to see how I could possibly get around this issue. If anyone has a clue as to how I can download apps and have it work compatibly with my Droid Razr Max phone, I am all ears. I'm hoping someone can help me????
