The Hats are really meant to be run as coaxials which is why the tweet is pretty loud. If you go active with them just get an amp that's active capable that way no extra things to buy. You can't listen to everyone about those HATs though. They've been the recent sq boner for a minute here. (I do believe they can ssound good setup correctly though).
Also if you're wanting to go active you can also check out parts express and madisound websites for raw drivers to mate together. You may Even ssave a bit of cash and still sound just as good if not better than comp sets in your price range.
The bold underlined statement it 100% false, They are not ment to run as coaxial, The tweeter is not any louder then any normal seperate system. Again this is uneducated hersay. Let me take you to school for a minute here.
The imagine series is a componate set up that come packaged as a coaxial unit 2 reasons its entry level so most folks do not have nor want to make holes for tweeters so the coaxial option gives them easy install options. Second these do not come with passive crossovers so you will need to use some sort of processing so the comment about the tweeters being to loud with out a doubt is user error.
I own the 6.5 imagine set and also have worked with HAT 5" tweeter set in an install and they sound amazing for entry level speakers almost better then most mid to high end speakers that cost twice as much.
