Need help picking new subs and amp! PLZ

looking to put a great system in my newly acquired 2000 ***** am

i probably will be getting a pioneer 8201 head unit

Number of subs preferred: 2

Size preferred (if configuration allows): 10" or 12"

Budget: none set but willing to put some down

Power to be used (which amp(s), include which resistance):

Space available (take measurements, do not guess): 40" W x 8" H x 8"/17" D per crutchfeld

Listening habits: alternative, some rap/hip hop

Preferred brands/subs/whatever: I have 2 JL 10w6's in my 2007 dodge mega cab enclosure kit and love those but im not set on any brand.. im open to 2 10's or 2 12's

i probably will get this box:

93-02 Camaro subwoofer boxes

Ive been looking at the JL 10W6 and W7 but learned about the Sundown speakers... so im lost

well if comparing to w6 or should we go buy how much room u have can't go by power since no amp yet, oh crap 8" h ok.. wow thats means u have less than 2 cf? so nothing ported (maybe 1 10) sundown e would work ported with like 5-800 rms they cheap.. id say 2 daytons they work in small space and sound good.. mounting depth will become a problem i think with 12's u would only have 6.5".. i'll let the others help u more sorry, u could look at sundown website and daytons on parts express,, sound qubed subs aren't real deep but the are for spl not sq (again cheap though)

oh yeah kr is right the sd are shallow mount..

Keep in mind, 8" of depth means 6.5" of internal box depth. So shallow mounts, closed pole subs (sd3 is both) would be ideal

Coil configuration depends on the amp you select. Whether it does power at 1 or 2ohm. You want roughly 1000w at either load.

Amp will depend on budget. You could keep it Sundown and get a sundown 1000. But there are also cheaper options

I would spend more money to get better sound/quality....

so you are saying the SAE-1000D ?

this model shows : RMS Power 2-Ohm Mono: 500W, RMS Power 4-Ohm Mono: 250W

which then i would want the SD-3 2ohm subwoofer to max this out right?

That amp does 1000 @1ohm, so you would want 2 d4.

You could save 100$ and get a Twisted Sounds 1k which is a very comparable amp. But some people like matching equipment, which is cool too

Also, my suggestions are assuming you are running sealed, which will give you about .8- 1.0cu per sub. You could possibly port 1 12, 1 10 or 2 8s

yeah if u do 2 d4 subs wired 2 ohm each is 1 ohm load and sundown amp does 1k at 1ohm (i actually think i saw it tested even more power than that) if $ is any concern look at car audio bargain they have it for $231 probably have sd subs too but remember only 30 day warranty on bstock items (nothing at all wrong with this stuff peeps say they see nothing wrong at all) or but the subs bstock if they have them in d4 and get another amp like audiopipe 1500 or rockford 1200.1 very nice amp or pioneer 9601 1200 rms nice amp too (for sealed subs)

I did a 99 Camaero with a pair of Kicker C10s Sealed,Polk 6.5s in side panels off HU with Blockers and Boston 6.5 components up front with a pair Alpine tweets in upper pillars and a Eclipse HU, with one 1-USA-US Acoustics Series II up front@2ohm stereo and an Autotek Mean Machine HC66 @2ohm mono,and that car slammed pretty nice and clean.Deff not a whole hell a lot of room in the rear deck,/Gas tank area.A cross brace works great and a nice way to secure your enclosure/enclosures.Amps mount Great in rear just below the rear seats/Acts as a wall.I went with 1.4 sealed per 10.
