need help on wiring

they are wired up like the rockford fosgate thing says.. to 4 ohms...
changing speaker wire from 18 gauge to 8 gauge make a difference?

it will make bugger all difference to the DC resistance.

u just need to take your car to a local shop to get your stuff hooked up since u obvioulsy have no clue what you are doing

if its supposed to be 1 ohm and it reads 2.4, your supposed to multiply whatever your gain would be @ 1 ohm by 2.4 and your problem is solved...

the nominal impedance of a speaker is not the same as its DC resistance.
impedance is frequency dependant and is an AC measurement.

when you measure a speaker with a multimeter, you are measuring its DC resistance, which will be lower than the drivers given nominal impedance.

in reality, a "4ohm" speaker, may have an impedance anywhere from 2 ohms to 20 ohms, depending on the driver itself, the frequency, aswell as the enclosure its in.

if you were to wire all 4 coils in parallel, to give a theoretical 1 ohm load, in reality, you'd have a 0.625 ohm resistance, which will more than likely be present to the amplifier at certain frequencies, and may cause it to go into protect.

you'll have to try it and see.

Update on his wiring problem. I helped him out we finally got his wiring done right we put some 8gauge stinger wire and wired it up for 1ohm and we tested it with my ohm meter and it showed 1.3ohms. We had it hooked up at 4ohms yesterday running a Ample Audio A1100Dx to it and it sound really good but today after redoing the wiring he done and got it down to 1.3ohms it was thumping hard. very loud and crisp cant wait to here it with a stronger amp bump on the 2 l5's
