heat alone cant hurt it. it would have to be running in extremely hot conditions. my ipod is not on when its that hot in my car. also, it was working perfectly not even an hour before when i was driving home from my buddys. and it was really cool out tonight too.i would definitely say heat killed your hard drive, time for a new iPod, although then again my 30gig iPod does the same thing in my car and I live in Florida so maybe not...
