ok i was over at my friends house when i saw this sub sitting under his table. I asked, and he said i could have it. there is no name anywhere on this sub, it is 4 ohm, and has a large coil, i would guess 3 or 4 inches.

at first i thought it had to be a PA sub, but the 4 ohms surprised me. tomorrow im gonna take it and hook it up to my bp 1200 @ 4 ohms for 600 watts in a 6ft box. Hopefully it gets loud. I have free aired it in my room and i seems like this sub could take a lot of power......

thanks

its pro audio, dont let the impedance fool you, they wire those things up, proably used with a couple other 18's

It will get loud, but dont expect it to play sub bass very well

it looks like there was a shiny silver sticker peeled off the bottom of the magnet. So PA subs dont really play very low? Guess ill be finding out soon enough. Wish i could figure out the maker. Haha maybe i could get it reconed.

That driver looks to me about 8-10 years old, definately not name brand - maybe a replacement driver for PA / Bass guitar applications. They'll play low, but you need a really large box typically.....a horn enclosure might get you better extention

im thinking six ft box, like 32 hz with 600 watts. Ill see soon. haha. just because ive never had an 18 an always wanted one im gonna try it out.

its not a JBL, they used a different basketPA subs are usually high sensitivity which means they wont drop down low like a car audio sub.
Thats a big generalization. Its not really that high sensitivity woofers can't play low frequencies at all, its that they need an *** load of enclosure volume to do it. If you've got 10-15 spare cubes lying around, why the hell not?!

Snoop i dont recognize you anymore without the bass master hat. in the avatar.
hehe people have said my new avatar is too creepy //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

I think 600 watts would be fine for something like this, it might actually help you out if you use some bass boost at 45 hz with this sub though, and keep that SSF filter waaaay high....it should keep it from blowing up too fast.
