hi, i dont know too much about car audio (or forums) but i was looking to buy 2 Sundown Audio SA-8 D4 8" Subwoofers. I would need to know if this is a good buy and also what amp to get. I was thinking a Planet audio AC1500.1M but again, i dont know much about audio setups. im looking to buy off amazon. thanks in advance. (also, is a sealed or ported box better?)

the sundown subs are great ,the amp not so great ,but cheap.also i would look on the forum for these amazon is usually old stock

As far as an amp, this is very cheap and will do rated without clipping:Audiopipe APSM-1500 1500 Watt Mono Mini Amplifier : APSM1500 : VMInnovations.com

If this is your first system in your vehicle, you probably won't notice any loss of sound quality that the amp introduces, and those subs are fine subs.

cant comment on those products but as far as sealed or ported you are in a great position to try out each and stick with the one that sounds best to you.

There is a ton of info on sealed vs ported out there but with a 8" sub its not gonna break the bank to try out both designs.

Depending on what type of music you listen to this may be a easy choice.

I have a pair of these ported (.6 cubes per) tuned to around 31hz running off a Phoenix Gold Xenon 1200.1 in a 2000 neon firing into the car and they get fairly loud. I get some flex and I must admit they sound good. They handle the power quite well. The only regret I have is not buying 2 more and running 4 of them lol

SA8's don't like sealed very much. I think the new e8's will do well in a sealed application if that's what you want to do.

Go with the 2 SA-8 and get more knowledgable friends.
