Hey guys, please bear with me, this is my first time installing an amp and a sub. I have a single MTX thunder 4500 12". The peak watts are 225W so I got a small 1 channel 300W amp to power it. My headunit is a Pioneer DEH-1100MP. The amp is a VISONIK VB101

So anyways, I hooked everything up and I have power going to my amp but no sound coming out of my subs. My battery is kind of dead and this car is sitting so it has no gas to run so with the ignition on I have 9 volts at the battery therefore have 9 volts going to the amp. I have 0 volts going to the speakers though.

The thing I noticed about the amp though is that it does not have a left and right input jacks, it only has 1 input jack, and an output jack for if I had another amp. Does this mean I need a 2 female to 1 male RCA cable? Would that cause me to get nothing out of the sub or would I atleast get something? Thats the only thing I can think of that would be wrong with it. I am very good with wiring so I know I wired it up right.

I just dont know what to set everything to like on my headunit, I dont know if the sub should just work when I start playing music or do I need to go to a different setting, at this point I dont care how it sounds, I just want to get it working.

Only other things I can think of are maybe I am just not getting enough volts because my battery is low.

Or I need a more powerful amp, but in this case shouldnt I still get something?

Thanks for any help, sorry if the questions are super newb.

Makes sense, but would the power light still turn on? Because mine is coming on.

What should I do about the jacks? That part has me worried the most.

Possibly. You can damage the amp by trying to run it at that low of voltage.

Post up a picture. My guess is that's it's a mono amp which is one channel. Which means you'll only have to plug in one of the two RCA plugs anyway

First of all, you need to get the car running. I don't even turn my radio on with my truck off. Second, I would scrounge around for another amp. Even if it is a cheap one, just about anything is better than Visonik. It sounds to me like it is set up for mono, but not worth figuring out.

Ok well I got my battery charged and put gas in the car. With the car running I have 14.6V going to the amp, but still nothing out of the sub. Still 0V at the speaker wires. The power light is on though. What else could it be? My brother has a California 600W amp that used to power 2 of these so I think I am going to use that as a temp. When I turn the radio on, the protection light on the amp turns on for a second and then switches to power, is that normal?

What can I test to track down the problem? I just bought this amp so if It doesnt work I want to get my money back or figure out what is wrong with it. Any help would be great, thanks.

Also what setting should I set the MHZ at and the power level on the amp?

Well I got it working guys. I didnt realize the sub was a DVC because it was still in the suub box from when my bro took it out of his car. I just wired it up for 2 ohms and it works perfect. I am actually pretty satisfied with the amp. The sound quality is good, no noise, and on the lowest gain it still bumps, it hits hard at just a little over half on the gain. The only down fall about the amp is that I would say its ONLY good for a DVC sub, because at 4 ohms it has no power, and it doesnt have enough watts to power more than one sub. But overall I dont have anything bad to say about the quality of the amp. Thanks for the help guys.
