Need help decieding on what I wanna tune to

I have two s12l7's and Iv'e just finished building a very custom box for them (you'll see what I mean when I post the pics). Anyway the time has come to build the port. The box is about 5 cu ft after sub displacement. Kicker suggested tuning is about 38 hz but im thinking that is more SPL and I dont know how good it would sound. I want probaly 70 spl / 30 SQ so maybe I should go with 32 HZ?? Anybody's input would be helpful thanks...

Not to sound too silly, but shouldn't the port have been planned BEFORE you build the box, to accomodate for its length and displacement?

and as far as tuning, are you going for SPL or SQ?

Yes.....you can't use 5cuft as the volume in the design of the port's length because after the port is installed the box will no longer be 5cuft.

Thats true, but I figure if the port is roughley 3x10x11 thats only going to take .19 cubic feet making my actual box around 4.8 cu ft total.

Your right I was just throwing some rough numbers out there. Anyway what tuning would you suggest Jmac? I'll figure out all the math later..
