Hello, I want to replace my current subwoofers with a single Type-R. The only thing is that I'm not sure which is the best option for me, the SWR-12D4 (4ohm DVC) or SWR-12 (2ohm DVC).

I'm looking for clearest sound and not necessarily the loudest, but I would prefer a balance of the two.

I'm not sure if it is best to wire the 2ohm DVC to a total of 4ohm load, or the 4 ohm DVC to a total of 2ohm load (since 8ohm is too much, in my opinion).

In addition I will also upgrade my amp, should I get a mono block or a two channel bridged amp?

Thanks

Get a mono block your voice coil option only matter depending what amp your getting. So decide on an amp first and then depending at what ohm load the amp does the most power, you choose your sub configuration.

Ok a mono block it is. But is the sound quality dependent on the impedance of the sub and amp?

Thanks for the quick reply.

The sound qualoty is in your enlcosure a custom enclosure is a MUST, @CSCStang on here builds and ships enclpsures. Hit him up. But as i said the enpsure is the most crucial aspect of how your sub performs

Sound quality is not based on the impedance, this is not home audio. Its mainly just power, efficiency and damping factor.
In that case I'm guessing its best to get the 4ohm DVC and wire it to a total of 2ohm load, since it is easier to power it at 1000w rms. Right?

Did you already forget what i posted? The sub dinfig doesnt matter untill you choose your amp.

Choose the amp then the sub configuration. Not the other way around. You have your priorities backwards man. Clearest bass will be from a good box and plenty of power to the sub. get an alpine 1000 amp and a D4, wire down to 2 ohms. However, if you arent going with a custom ported box, you might not get the output you desire. Other choice would be to get a 2000 watts rms at 1 ohm amp and a D4 sub now wired to 2 ohms and in the future add another D4 12 and wire down to 1 ohm.
