Need Help Deciding on Subs!

I know you guys are getting tired of these questions, but i need some help!

After searching for a while for subs to put in my truck, i have narrowed the choices down to two.

I listen to a lot of different types of music, and i not only need a sub that hits hard and is loud, but i need a sub with outstaning SQ.

The two choices i have in mind are the Alpine Type E 1242s, or the Kicker CVR 12s

and these have to go in a truck box (due to me having a standard cab truck)

and im going to use that new Sony 1200W amp to push them

Thanks for all the help in advance everyone!

I would go with the Kicker CVR's... theyre SPL oriented but sound pretty good from the setups i've heard. But if theyre sealed in a small truck box they wouldn't be working to their full potenial.

The Type E's would work well in sealed boxes but then again they won't get really loud... but SQ will be good though.

I've not heard anything out of Sony's 2005 lineup but unless they've made some drastic changes to the build quality of their products from the 2004 and previous year models I can't see it offering anything approaching "outstanding" SQ.

Regardless of the amplifier choice I cannot see either the Type E's or the Comp VR's producing "outstanding" SQ themselves.

That being said, of the options listed I would go with the CVRs hands down over the Type Es. Bang for the buck CVRs are pretty tough to beat.

yeah man, well in no way am i restricted to those two choices. Im open to any suggestions anyone might have.

Also, i know Sony dosent have that great of a reputation.........but im hoping that it will push them pretty good......anyone think to the contrary?

Thanks,

I think highly on the contrary. Im not really up to date on those prices, so give me your budget and there might be something better out there for you to get that you dont know about.

yeah that amp is OK... 500 watts isnt much to power 2 subs with, but it should be allright. My first subs were powered with 80 watts. I'm using a 800 watt amp right now which I don't think is of any better quality than the sony and my 2000SPL's slam with it.

overall, 500 RMS isnt bad for $130
