Need help deciding on SQ/SQL 10"

Before someone says anything... yes, I have searched a lot trying to decide. But i just can't figure it out. I've heard good and bad about everything

I'm looking to getting a single 10" to replace two really, really cheap 12's. Long story about the 12's, but I should just say they definitely weren't my first choice for subs. I need trunk space now though. I'm going to college, and i mountain bike a lot, so I need as much space as possible. Money is an issue though... I'd really like to keep it around $200.

I'm a little bit of a sound quality freak, so that's the main priority. I listen to almost every type of music. Classical, jazz, all types of rock, heavy metal/hardcore, techno, and even a little hip-hop. But volume and decent impact is also important. I love to turn it up some and be able to feel the bass. I've never heard any of these subs, so I really need some honest opinions.

Amp will be an Alpine MRP-M650 so i'll be pushing 600 Watts RMS @ 2 ohms.

Looking at running less than 1 cubic foot.

Going in a 2004 Civic

Options:

SS RL-i10 (600 watts too much?)

TC-1000 (again, too much power?)

Fi SSD (not enough power?)

Suggestions?

Would it be worth it to spend the extra money and get a 10w6v2 or an 8w7 off ebay? I've heard a lot of people saying JL is overpriced... so I'm not sure. I don't want to end up with a much more expensive sub that doesn't play any better than something almost half the price.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

With what exactly your looking for i think either the 10W6 or the 8w7 would be perfect. They both are perfect for SQ, the 10W6 in my opinion is going to be your best bet. I have heard both myself with about the same amount of power and they sound fantastic, but worth the extra money.

the tc-1000 is a great sq sub I am looking into getting two for myself... 600w is not too much they reccommend in between I believe 450 and 1000

I have heard a 10w7 before and ya they sound great but its ridiculous how much they cost, some people actually like the sound of a W6 more but in general most people on this forum will tell you there is better for the money

if you go from 2 x 12 to 1 x 10 you might be dissapointed. id reccomend a 12 minimum, of if you can work a 15 into a small space id go that way.

stay away from indo.

I'm pushing about 120 watts RMS to each 12". And i only have the gain set about halfway up. These subs don't push much air at all... I don't think that i'll be losing much volume by switching to a nice single 10". And if i do, then i don't care... because I know that it'll sound much better.

If I was looking at either the 10w6v2 or the 8w7, then which one would be better in my situation? I don't think that I'd be unhappy with the SQ of the 8w7 even if the 10w6 might have a bit better SQ. Which one do you think would be louder? I'd be building each to the JL recommended size sealed box. My amp would be about 500 watts RMS at 3 ohms, so i'd be right at the power limit for the 8w7.

personally i wouldnt mess w/ jl. Just my opinion... i say that because money is an obstacle in your case. You could check out the S.I. BM as a recomendation. You could even look into 2 Kicker cvr 10"s if you're willing to give up a lil more room. 600 would be awesome on those subs. Great subs IMO. You can get them for around $75 each on ebay.

he asked for your opinions on 2different subs........a 10w6 and an 8w7....Stop telling him personally what you would do, bc you own that sub....
I think it's okay for the other members to continue giving him their recommendations for a little while longer. I hope that is okay with you sir.
