Need help deciding on a new head unit.

I'm considering purchasing a new head unit...but I'm pretty lost when it comes to them. I've always been the guy that buys a Pioneer or Kenwood unit in the mid $100's and has it installed for free at best buy. But now that I've been working on my audio systems in my jeeps and upgrading speakers and amps...I think a head unit upgrade is worth it as well.

I want a head unit with built in EQ. I'm big on EQ and adjusting the sound perfectly to my liking...well my current stereo just doesn't allow enough of that.

Sorry for the open ended question, but can someone recommend me some good head units with built in EQs that aren't low level, but aren't upwards of $500-$600?

The two favorites are the Pioneer 880PRS and the Alpine 9887.

Other units made by Clarion and Eclipse are 3-way active capable.

880 Prs, which I had and sold because I am opposite of you and like the simplicity of your basic deck that still has decent volts and some goodies. The 880 is an awesome deck if you know what you are doing.

Also the 800PRS, which is the newer version of the 880.
