Ok folks, I have come up with my list of components for my first budget SQ system. Let me know what you think and if you think it will sound good.

Phoenix Gold R9.0;5 - 5 ch amp

Phoenix Gold RSD comps

Pioneer 6900(open to other options around this price with usb)

The only thing that I have not decided on is a sub. With the power that i have on the amp, what do you think would be the best sub. I was thinking the ed 9v.2 in a sealed but I do not know how that would sound...............

advice please

Can I ask why you went the route you did? What I mean is why did you pick Phoenix Gold?(Personal preference, Budget , ....)? I might change a few things around. Running a 5 channel amp would work but I think you would be happier if you had a 4 ch amp for the speakers and a mono (1ch class-D) amp for the sub(s). Its a simple set up the way it is and would prb sound fine for your first system but rather than upgrade later because you know you will, it was just be easier to add the amp so It will sound better now.You decision and good luck. Hope this helps!

I was deciding on that amp because of my budget and I figured that it had everything that I needed in one. I looked at either going the 4 channel and the one channel option, and the 2 channel and the one channel option but they worked out to be a little more expensive

Well it will still work fine but it could always be alot better. Its still gettin you some rockin tunes anyways and that all that matter. When you have an extra little cash kickin around think about upgrading. Until then good luck and its a good start!

My mistake I miss-read what you were running! I see you only have one set of comp. I thought you were running 2 sets or 4 spks. Well hell you only needed a 2ch and a mono. Oh well now that you got that 5 channel, you may as well GET

another set spks. IMO I like the sound of rears with good power. Now my answer has changed. Sorry for the other posts. Must of have retard moment and misread

Excellent choice for a good sq system on budget. Don't let anyone convince you otherwise. I would recommend using an Rsd 10 or 12" in a sealed enclosure. I haven't used them myself but I've read nothing but good about them.

Which brand/model of sub you chose will be much less critical than will be implimenting and integrating it correctly into your system and your vehicle.

If this is truely gonna be a SQ system, screw the mono class D subwoofer amp idea, you dont need a kilowatt for SQ. Get a good solid performing sub, place it in the proper alignment enclosure (probably sealed), get the correct amount of power and freqs to it so it blends well with your front stage, and viola... budget SQ substage.

Most people seem to spend 80% of their time deciding which sub to buy, and 20% of their time actually installing it. If you work the other way around you are almost surely going to get positive results (unless you are a retard, which Im confident nobody here is).

Good luck and keep us posted.
