Need help choosing Sub Setup

So basically... One big 15'' could be perfect and could handle the really fast double-bass drumming ?? And sound really tight?

I know about the "smaller cone = tighter sound" theory, I read up on that and it makes more sense now. It's all in the box and the amp's. Every sub can technically achieve this sound, only bigger ones will need MORE to be able to, you just have to give em' that.

Now, I was really interested in the sundowns, the "E15" you are speaking of, is from sundown too right? I'll see if I can find it on eBay.

I don't understand what you mean by "2ch amp that is bridgable to 4ohms mono", are you referring to a monoblock class d ? Why 2 channels? I don't understand.

Thanks again!

That's where I'd suggest looking for the Sundowns and their like, tis where I go if I'm looking for new.

He was referring to using a 2 channel amp and connect the sub to "bridge" the 2 channels of power into 1 channel, essentially making it a mono amp. It was suggested as a cost saving technique, not sure why. It wouldn't be hard to find a good mono amp either.

I'd look at either of these amps, great deals here.

Ehhh, that's a bit too expensive for my liking... Anything around 100-130$ shipped??...

I don't need massive wattage, but the more the better obviously. I really like the sundown subs but what do you guys recommend, twin 8's, twin 10's, twin 12's or single 15 ? I'm still not sure about that one either.

^^ its a decent amp just dont expect its full rated power. Its a solid 400watts im sure..

To ur other question dual 12's will have more cone area then a single 15 thus should get louder not always but 99% of the times if using the same amount of power.. I would do dual 10's but I like 10's... Get what u like just be smart with ur money and you will be happy.

I wouldn't run the amp, that's just me though, not my style. Should do 400w or so as Disturbed said.

And as well, I'd go with two 10's. A pair of 12's will give you a little more cone area, but require like twice as much volume, not worth it imo.

Good price on that Rubicon Disturbed linked above.
I'd also look at Obsidian subs before you make a purchase.
Obsidian doesn't make 10's :\ Though, if he doesn't mind 12's and the extra volume required, I'd certainly throw their name in there. Especially since they only have D4's left, a pair of them would be ideal.

EITHER WAY, that Soundstream Rubicon would be great. The Sundowns sound good on 600w, and easily take 1,000 watts... Personally, I feed my single 10" 1,200w. So, I'd say any amp between 1k-2k would be good, and that Soundstream is right in the middle.

Are you getting 1600.1 Rubi?

This one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/SOUNDSTREAM-RUB1-1600D-1600-WATT-RMS-MONO-AMP-MONOBLOCK-CAR-STEREO-SUB-AMPLIFIER-/320844901067?pt=Car_Amplifiers&hash=item4ab3d8aacb#ht_2301wt_982

If you're getting the dual 4 ohm SA-10's that's a good match. You can run at 1 ohm. You achieve this by wiring the subs to 2 ohm a piece then parallel into the amp giving you a 1 ohm load. Here's a cool subwoofer wiring diagram from Sonicelectronix:http://knowledge.sonicelectronix.com/tools/subwoofer-wiring/

You just match up what subs you've got and bada-bing! Good luck man!

I'm getting the amp from this guy : carstereoneeds | eBay
Please scroll his wirings if he has any and link me the best wiring for my setup mentioned above? I'm learning all this as you guys teach me it. Really interesting!
I'd take 2 Obsidian 12's over 2 SA-10's personally, but there are plenty of people here who would disagree with me.

A lot of what you get is going to come down to your box. Hit up Mobile Enclosures on here, or Google him, he will design a box that does what you want it to do regardless of which way you go.

I wouldn't go near any of his wiring kits. Legacy and Power Acoustic YIKES >.

The way I see it, you have 2 options with your wiring kit. Assuming you're not running power wire all the way to the back of an SUV, you can get a good quality OFC 4-gauge kit. Or, you can get a lesser quality CCA 0 gauge kit. They both will probably fall in the same price range. Also if you plan on running an amp for the door speakers too, then I'd say 0 gauge is your ONLY bet. Here's a few kits I'd recommend.

4 gauge for sub amp only: 4 Gauge Amplifier Installation Kit

0 gauge for sub amp (can always buy a distro block if you decide to add an amp for speakers): Copper Clad Aluminum

If you know you're gonna run 2 amps, this kit has everything you'll need: Amazon.com: Cadence Fda0+4k 0+4 Gauge Dual Amplifier Installation Kit: Car Electronics

I'd like to thank DoesDad for the valuable info, I'll look at this diagram of yours! I am probably going to get the Rubi, yes.

FlexnInLa, I have read a lot of good comments about the SA-10's and they sound perfect for what I am looking for, so I'll probably be looking into those, but no doubt the Obsidians are good, I actually have a friend I'll recommend these to. I'll definitely talk to Mobile Enclosures about this.

TheUnderFighter, alright, I won't buy any wiring from this guy, I just wanted to save on the shipping by buying from the same guy, hehe :p But if you tell me it's crap, I'll stay away from it. I already have an EARTHQUAKE 4-Gauge Wiring kit I had bought for my speakers, so what do I need to add/change for it to work ? I will definitely be using 2 amps, the first one being the RUBICON mentioned above, and the second one, a 4-channel Tarantula amp from Soundstream. This one :

http://www.techronics.com/caraudio_10791_Soundstream-TX4-440-440-Watts-RMS-4-Channel-Class-A-B-Tarantula-Series-Amplifier.html

I don't understand the difference between 4 and 0 gauge wires, what does that mean exactly? Why can't I use two 4 Gauge kits? I understand this is the size of the cable (If I'm not mistaking?) And my car is not an SUV, it's a Saturn LS2, with quite a lot of trunk space. Any guide on how to calculate the space I have? I'd go out and check that tomorrow.

So yeah, I'd get that Twin amp wiring kit, but I already have the 4 Gauge half of the pack sitting here at home, waiting for the rest of my system.

Another thing, I live in Canada Quebec, so try getting Canadian links if possible //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Thanks!
