Hey all, I'm new to the forum and pretty much the car audio installation. I currently have a 2005 Chevy single cab P/U truck. So far I have installed a Kenwood KDC X995 head unit (22 watts RMS/50 peak x 4 channels) with 2 Rockford Fosgate Punch P1653 6-1/2" 3-way Full Range Speakers in the doors (RMS=60 watts each/120 watts each peak) and 2 Rockford Fosgate Punch P1462 4" x 6" 2-way Coaxial Speakers in the rear pillars (RMS=35 watts each/70 watts peak). I just picked up a Kicker CVR12 subwoofer (400 watts RMS/800 peak) from a coworker today and now I need to buy an amp. I'm giong to build a sealed box for the sub next week.
So, my question is what would you guys recommend for an amp? Do I go with a single channel amp or maybe a dual channel amp? I'm figuering around 400 watts RMS should be fine. Would you run the speakers off the head unit and the sub off the amp, or everything off the amp?
I really don't need a compition system just need to add some bass to the current setup. It seriously lacks bass. Basically I'm trying to get a good quality sounding system for listening to mostly classic rock & roll music.
Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions
