Need help choosing an amp for the HAT Imagines. I will be running them active off the amp itself so it will need built in x-overs. Been looking into these, don't want to spend too much on the amp right now. Budget is $150-$175. Which one would be best? Thanks.

Thanks for the input guys. I just found this one for about $230, it a PPI Phantom 900.4. Is it better than the rubicon? Linked to it in first post.

They all ****. Why? You're not going to get a quality x-over, EQ, or any processing with a

For your application, active, you're going to need to spend more than $175 if you want the best sound. If you're on a budget, use passives. Running speakers off a cheap amp's crossover will sound bad no matter what brand speakers you're using. So, those amps you've been looking over will all be poor choices. In addition, cheap amps use really bad sounding x-overs anyway and you do not want to rely on those.

Here is my thought, theory. Those speakers are 80w rms. Half of that is 40w rms. Add the 40 to the 80 and you get 120w. Get an amp that is 120w...
