im kind of debating on a few different things lately but i cant really decide...

-I kind of want to be a cop, for a few different reasons.

-I also think being a fire fighter would be kind of cool to, my next door neighbor is one, and i have a cousin that is one as well.

-Lastly i love welding, and really have wanted to make a profession out of it for a while, and actually id really like to try and get into underwater welding as they make REALLY good money..this is the one im really leaning towards.....

if you had to choose, what would you do?

Whatever you think will give you the most gratification. As it is a career, you will be doing whatever you choose for the foreseeable future, you don't want to be one those people who hates their job and is always grumpy about everything because of it. If you think being a welder is something you can do day in and day out for 40 years and like it at the same time, then do it!!

If not, keep looking. My $.02

Do what you think you would enjoy most. Underwater welders do make good cash. Alot are out to sea most of the time or in the middle of the ocean for months atta time on oil rigs though.
i think id enjoy welding the most...and if i did go with the underwater route..the way i see it is i could work 6-9 months a year and take off the rest if theres enough jobs...cause i know after i was already thinking about making a career out of that i heard on the news that the guys working in the gulf after the hurricanes were making like 30k in 6 weeks...

You still in school?

Check into technical schools or welding programs in your area. Some technical schools have night classes, some colleges have welding courses also. Another option might be to get a job as a welders apprentice for awhile to get the hang of it and get your foot in the door.

well i took a welding class at a college while i was still in school, but i got hurt pretty bad in it and didnt really get to finish the class like i should have been able to...but i know theres a school close where i could get my ASE certification for it...and theres an underwater welding school in Houston, Tx where id go if i decided to do that...
