Okay so, I'm running a kenwood head Unit with a 4 Channel Amp DHD powering Alpine SPR Coaxial in the Front and Infinity Reference Coaxial Speakers in the Rear. Now I notice everyone stereo place is telling that I need a different Amp since all my speakers sound too bright(High Treble) even though I'm getting pretty good sound from all 4 speakers. I was thinking of purchasing a Memphis Street Reference Amp to replace the DHD amp for a pretty good price at a stereo shop. What that be a good amp for these type of speakers I'm running? What would you guys do or suggest if you were in my shoes? I could only spend no more than 200.

My speakers are all 6.5 size by the way.

This is the DHD amp I'm running right now.

Welcome to DHD

THe stereo owner told me that I'll see a nice improvement with this Memphis Amp compared to the DHD Amp.

For that problem you say your having, the solution is proper tuning, proper crossover settings, if you like add a subwoofer and to make it best deadend your doors.

Well the Memphis is definately a better amp the dhd is garbage But the amp isn't why the speakers sound so bright So if anything deaden the doors and adjust the deck and amp better. Or like said. Add a sub

Thanks for the quick reply bro. It is definitely tuned. I spent hours in tuning it the best I can which included the Input Sensitivity(Gain), HPF, etc. I already have sub with a separate amp that is tuned perfect. Its just that the speakers sound pretty harsh still, not real bad but could be smoother.

Hey mylows, just read your reply. The adjustment setting just helps a real little on the kenwood head unit. So you think deadening the doors will help with this this issue?

I own a saturn 2003, all my doors are plastic by the way.

Tune some more. You can fix your problem.

Not only did I spend time tuning this amp, I've had two different stereo technicians tune the amp, speakers are still pitchy. Like I said, not real bad, But I know speakers like Alpine and Infinity can sound smoother(A little calmer on the high notes) And trust when I say this, Tuning the amp is what should do the trick. My gains are barely up, My HPF nobs are a little pass the middle, any less, speakers will distort. Both channels are on the HPF setting, Full range will distort them. I'm running all coaxials.

My Head Unit doesn't have a High Frequency setting. lol. Its has Sub, Bass, Mid, Treble, Balance, and Fader. So maybe a good head unit Upgrade with more settings possibly?
