ok i am about to install a dual voice coil 4 ohm kicker cvr...from what i understand, i need to wire the 2 voice coils together but what kind of wire do i use? and also how can i combine the coils plus run it to the amp, 2 of the 4 terminals will have 2 wires, the one going to the amp and the one connecting the coils how do u do it without having them 2 wires touching each other?

well thanks guys, everything is up and running, but my amp seems to cut out for a few seconds sometimes, the amp is getting hot to where you can't keep your hand on it for more than 1 second so maybe that's the problem...or maybe i need to play with the amp settings.

I only found out what clipping was a few minuites ago, on my amp theres a light that says "CLIP" and when the music playes that one is blinking in sync with the bass.. adjust my settings?

wire acording to the power output and what ohm stable the amp is...

That is very bad. What is the amp, and what is the lowest ohm load it is rated for? 2 ohm, 4 ohm? You want to wire your voice coils to match what the amp is rated for.

Clipping will occur if you over drive the inputs, or if you exceed the output of the amp (like if your running it at too low of an ohm load).

The heat you describe will fry your amp pretty quick. So you need to fix the problem, quick.

That amp is rated to handle a 2 ohm load. Crutchfield page says 312 watts at 2 ohms.

That should be right in the power range for that sub.

Is the air flow around the amp restricted by something, that won't allow it to cool normally?

Does it have at least an 8 gauge power wire, with fuse?

Are you over driving the hell out of it?
