need help...again

You just got an idea of what it takes to make any sub do anything in any particular vehicle. Someone comes in and says that "X is loud, you should get those" and you entertain him. The reason why this industry does not get any smarter and why it keeps shrinking......all contained within this thread. (And every other thread....not poking at you).

You want an aesthetic appeal versus a guaranteed response?
TJ, for every application you can show where they take 1200, I can show you one where they beat themselves apart on 500. It's all in the enclosure design. That is why EVERY RMS spec given by a manufacturer is worth a large lump of donkey *****.
RMS specs from manufacturers are based on thermal limits, not mechanical limits. Mechanical limits are affected much more by the enclosure than are thermal limits, which is exactly why manufacturers advertise thermal limits.

And before you say it, yes the enclosure does affect thermal limits, just not nearly as much as mechanical.

I'd face them the direction that a qualified acoustic engineer designs the enclosure to face.
A LOT of work goes into calculating what type of enclosure it takes to make any specific sub reach your sound goals in your given vehicle, on your given power, with your given maximum dimensions. Anyone willing to do the design for a low price is not qualified to do so with ANY accuracy. But of course, you are welcome to do whatever you choose.
Even an acoustical engineer would end up relying on trial and error. Sure, their knowledge will help them get into the ballpark, but I dont know of any equations that will accurately tell you frequency response for a specific vehicle, with a specific enclosure, in a specific location/firing direction. With all the variables involved, its going to end up being less work, and more accurate, to use trial and error rather than expect accurate results from a pencil and paper. Even top quality SQ (and SPL) guys use trial and error to tweak their systems to perfection.

OP, you didn't really state what your goals are. Are you looking for SQ or SPL? What is your budget? edit: $600, I see.......

In a trunk car, if you can fold the rear seat down - subs forward, port forward. If you don't want to/can't fold the seat down - subs back port back or up.

Ultimately, Everyone has to experiment for the best possible results.

The only way an acoustical engineer can get close to a 'perfect' system is if they had every possible object, dimension, and surface mapped out in the listening environment + enclosure environment. Given the time and knowledge required to do it accurately, trial and error wins every time in my book. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

by the way get get some sa-15s subs up port back seems the way to go. how much space were looking willing to give up
i have about 6 cubes to work with

I kno th sa's can take 1200 daily
I gave my SA-12 (rebuilt by splaudio) 2400 at 1 ohm. I beat on it the second I got it (didnt break it in) and it took it perfectly for maybe a month before I bought a second one to split the power with. now they both are broken in and slam like crazy
