I'm looking for an amp for my upcomming components. I'm thinking of the SLC's.

A 2 Channel amp is fine but I would consider a 4channel if it did 200W X 2 @ 4ohms. reason is if I ever upgrade from the SLC's, or decide I want something with more power I'd still be able to use it.

Any Ideas? I Have a clarion APA 450 that does 4x50W or 2x200W @ 4ohms. 200W seems like too much for the SLC's so I don't want to use it.

I'm interested in amps that do Rated Power, Clean power with good SQ.

I was looking at the MA Audio M489I But I hear they're just "ok"

If its too much for the SLCs, turn the gains down //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

BTW with the right HPF, you may be able to get away with 200...

Yeah, but i dont know if this amp is really "clean" I have had issues before.

I'm currently using it to push a JL Audio 12W04 @ 200ohms. The sub is rated for 250rms max. It sounds good at times, other times it's complete ***.

Could be the enclosure though, it's in a box made for a truck cab. I'll be putting it in a real box tonight. Maybe some poly fill.

Hmmm...Arc Kar 400.2? Not sure the price on that one, but doubt its too high....ask 6speedcoupe for prices and suggestions...
Edit: Why not buy used? You can get something of higher quality for less....

Example: Arc 400.2 http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=163950
Because I want a warranty of some type, and I dont want to pay via paypal, I want to make a purchase and pay it off in 3 months.

is this amp stable at anything under 4ohm bridged?

Because i keep seeing the ratings for 2ch amps stop rating at 4ohm birdged =X. Does this mean they are not stable at 2ohm bridged or just dont rate them? tia

It's not going to be just 2 channel amps that exhibit that limitation.

The vast majority of the amps available are stable no lower than 4 Ohms when in a mono bridged configuration.

The amps that are stable lower than that when bridged are decidedly in the minority.

Just look at the specifications for the amplifier. It will tell you how much power it produces and at what impedance.

Most of everything you find will be stable down to 2ohm.. but just look at the given amps specs.
