2 channels max I only need 1 but I could always upgrade.

What brands should I look for or stay away from?

I seen some lanzer for cheap but I dont think there good..

New or used doesnt matter best deal possible, Im only running one its hard to find these subs. But in the future Ill add another sub if I can only find a good mono block ill take it but I should be able to find something that could power a second.

I have a old rockford 12" HX2 .....

you could pick up a Kicker 400.1. They sell pretty cheap, arround 140-160 shipped. They will do better than 400 @ 2ohm, and you could add a second one when you find another sub.

Cheap and quality do go together I bought the speaker used for 60 bucks with box, I been using it for 3 years and its still worth more then I paid.

My amp died before the speaker did.

Cheap as price and cheap as quality are different.
