Need amp to speaker wiring help!

My first post... great site!

I have a 2 channel amp that I want to install so that it runs a 4ohm DVC sub on 1 channel and 2 6x9 speakers on the other channel. The sub is rated to hold a 2ohm load in stereo and a 4 ohm load bridged.

My preferred setup (although I can't figure out if this is safe)

Run the DVC sub bridged from the amp to produce a 8ohm load (thanks Fosgate for th wiring schematic).

Run the 6x9 speakers in stereo from each channel. (4 ohm load stereo)

Overall, I have no need to maximize the sub output, or the 6x9 output. I would prefer to run the 6x9's in stereo.

Anyway - could someone help me with a wiring schematic or other advice. Thanks!

What you wish to do, sharing channels is not possible. You can run the sub on one channel and the 6x9's bridged to one channel. But this leaves you with no stereo on the 6x9's and no filter for the sub.

You are going to need to run just the sub or just the 6x9's on the amp.

what kind of amp are you using? You should be able to do what you want . If you wire your sub to 8 ohms and run the 6x9's in stereo your amp should see a 2 ohm sterio load. You will need a coil in series with the sub to produce a lowpass signal for the sub.

It is a kenwood KAC-606. Only puts out 50x2 stereo, 150x1 mono bridged, but I am not looking for alot of power. Just some fill for the time being. I also have a Scosche that I was given . I found the amp at Walmart, thus I am not sure I want to bother installing an amp that doesn't seem to have much quality behind it. Am I right or wrong on this?

tri mode will get you 37w to each speaker and 75 to the sub, plus you'd have to come up with an inline crossover for the sub. Honestly, it would make a lot more sense to find a decent 4 ch and get what you can for that kenwood.

Another option - I believe the scosche amps are CEA compliant. Should do rated power. Actually, I would put it in about the same class as your kenwood. You could use one amp for the 6x9's and one for the sub. That could (should) get decent results.

N2Audio -

Thanks for the info about the Scosche amp. I have never heard of the name before and figured it wasn't worth it. If the amp is "decent" then I will just run both amps.
