was looking for the cheapest place to buy a pair of alpine 12" type x at? help me out. i prefer new but will consider buying used depending on location

Feed them 1000 Watts each (UNCLIPPING). They really impress with the full load, but don't over-do it. The overall results are truly outstanding. They're not the loudest of their class, but they can be VERY loud. In my experience with them in sealed enclosures, they shine on fullness, realism, and straight-up intensity.

No. But telling someone they'll easily take 1300~ish watts could be dangerous. (they will, but only in optimal power/enclosure conditions and absolutely without any hint of defect).

Actually, I'd probably avoid feeding them over around 1200W ea sealed. Clipping is the key danger, though (as I'm sure you know). 1200W RMS is assuming the amp is set up properly. Anything higher than that will probably help you find out pretty quick which ones of the batch were a little better made than others in the batch.

lol I have been looking into them but with my Memphis 16-ST1500D I was thinking I may have a little too much amp. I mean anything can be adjusted to work with correct gain setting/enclosures but that is a lot 'O' amp lol and I am greedy.....I dont want to waste it!!!

Have a pair of the Type X 12"s, and love 'em, but (as you may have seen) going to try out a pair of SS RL-P12's at half amp power to satisfy some of my own curiosities about the subs.

Have a pair of the Type X 12"s, and love 'em, but (as you may have seen) going to try out a pair of SS RL-P12's at half amp power to satisfy some of my own curiosities about the subs.

Yeah and sadly I think the thing that keeps drawing me to the type X is the looks....I am usually an all go no show type of guy but those X's are **** sexy and not *too* flashy sort of low key with the darker colors but very stylish..I am drawn toward the SS Rl-p 15 for its NO BS appearance and I feel it would perform very comprable to my previous EDa....

Ive got a single X 12 strapped to a xexon 1200 in a small sealed box*cant remeber dimens* with no probs what ever and it sounds pretty damm good
