Need Advice. Wondering if I should upgrade Sub or Amp

Last year, I made a purchase without looking much into what I was buying, and while it's not complete crap its' definitely not quite as powerful as I want. Okay, here's what I bought

Amp: Kicker 11DX250.1

Sub: Kenwood KFC-W12PS

The main problem is that after a certain volume, the bass discontinues to rise which results in not even being able to hear the bass. Mind you, I don't have to turn it up that loud for it to happen. So, what I'm really wondering is, what do I need to change in this setup to have my system work better for my needs? Thanks!
