need advice with this L7 box......

I an interested in this box on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200092828048&sspagename=ADME:L:RTQ:US:1. The seller say it can be tuned @ 38, 48, or 58 hz. After some email communications, he suggested to go with 48hz since the box will be in the trunk. What do you guys think?

He's an idiot if he things 48hz is a great tuning frequency for a daily vehicle. You will terrible low end and it will be very peaky around 50-70hz.

The box looks nice but I'd say for $100 you could build 2 or 3 enclosures of your own.

Learn how to build a box yourself, its not too difficult, and you dont need that many tools... and you would save about 70% or so, althought 1" MDF is hard to comeby, most places carry 3/4.

48hz is veryyy high, your not going to get much SQ out of that at all, if SPL is your goal then go for it.

How do you keep your box from falling apart?

I don't have the time or tools to build a box. It would probably cost more just to buy tools for this one-time build. I did tell him that most people on this forum suggested to tune in the 30's, and here was his exact response...

"30s is going to get you a blown sub or amp, we don't build anything below 38hz because of two many blown subs 30s move stuff like panels etc but does not have impact"

I really like the look and dimensions of the box, but not sure which to tune to.....

btw, he did suggested tuned @ 48 since I ask for maximun spl, but I am a newbie so maybe someone can explain.

That guy is not very bright. So whats the NET on that box? It has a gross of 1.54, after port and sub displacement, your looking probably around 1 cube MAX. Thats incredibly small.

Thanks for all the input. What about these two boxes? Both have the exact same dimensions but one is for a 10" and the other is a 12". Which will go louder?
