Need advice getting confused

Ive been reading on here a lot lately and seen a lot of conflicting info so Id like to get some questions answered. Ill be installing a system in my wifes 74 bronco soon. I was planning on 6.5 in the front and 6x9 in the back with one 10" sub and a 5 channel amp. Ive read that I shouldnt use rear speakers and if I did, I shouldnt use 6x9. Also read components are better overall than coaxials. So what do yall recommend me do? Should I just get a decent set of components, sub, and a 3 or 4 channel amp?
