Need a ported box design for a 18" Kicker Solo-X

I have a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the back measured at 44 inches wide, 36 inches deep, and to the top of the backseats is 17 inches.

I was thinking I could do a PORTED box with the dimensions of 40x30x20. I'm not too worried about the 3 inches above my backseats. With those measurements, I believe that is right at 13.9 cubes.

Do these dimensions look good for this subwoofer? Also, what does this box need to be tuned to for every day listening (Not SPL)? Isn't most rap music around 35Hz? 35 sounds good to me.

If someone could design me a box with the exact dimensions, that would be great! Also if you have any ideas or if you want to change anything around feel free to do so.

Thanks again,

David

If I may ask, how'd you design that box?

I designed the box in a program I wrote that calculates port size base on tuning or port volume and gives susgested dementions. Then I take the output and plug it into sketchup and a windows calc //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

With that box the port width could go maybe an inch smaller. Currently its tuned to 32Hz.

I do some type of engineering design every day at work. The math for basic box design is pretty easy compared to what I deal with day to day.

The design software is within .01 cu/ft and relies heavily on acurate drive spec, but works pretty well. I have designed and built 14 boxes (since I got back into car) auto with excelent results, based on the script.
