need a new amp?

Right now im running a 1000w sony amp ,clarion deck and 2 12 inch infinity subs in a ported box in my civic. A lot of people told me if i bought a newer/better amp my subs would pound harder and sound better. Any suggestions?

well for starters u can tell us the subs RMS watts and waht there impedances (ohms) are and if there svc (single voice coil) or dvc (dual voice coil).

They are the infinity 1230w models. Not sure about the voice coil.

you would probably look for an amp that can do 600 watts @ 2 ohms then. Somwhere around there. Im not good at sugesting amps tho so wait till somone else posts.

*edit* just curious wahts the rms on that sony amp?

I have no idea of the rms, I dont have the box it came in anymore and they do not make those amps anymore. I will try and find out though.

todays ur lucky day i have 4 more hifonics bx2200d amps they would be perfect for ur setup im selling them for 400 shipped anywhere in united states brand new in boxes let me know what u gonna do.

1000 watts Sony, older discontinued...I bet you would gain in output, but also look at the enclosure...can you tell us more about it as well?

Yeah i can tell you more, is there anything specific that you want to know? I have a clarion deck if that helps. And to the guy selling the amps sorry I live in Canada and I dont really have the cash for a new amp right now, sometime this summer maybe.

We pretty much need to know whether your box is ported or sealed. If it is ported, give us the size and tuning frequency if you know it.

Sony doesn't make the best equipment in the world, but the worst that amp could really be doing is not making its rated power. Replacing it might give you some more power, but those subs might not really want/need anymore

The box is ported, its a few years old and i bought it used so i dont know any info other than its ported..lol.. I do know its not homemade it was bought new.

look for a 1-channel also called mono amp that loads 600rms X 1@ 2ohms or even look for a 2-channel amp that loads 300rms X 2@ 4ohms

what model sony amp do you have?
