need a good amp/2 amps for 2 jl 12w7 but dont want JL amp

Put the two 3 ohm woofers in parallel(sp) to make it 1.5 ohms, hook up to amp and watch it wang. positive of one speaker to positive of other, negative of one to negative of other and then to amp.

Easier to blow subs with too small of an amp then too big of an amp.
BS.

You can run any 1 ohm stable amp on those subs with no problem. They don't need a retarded amount of power. You can probably get away with a 2 ohm stable amp because the JLs act more like 4 ohm than 3 ohm subs. A 1ohm stable amp that does from 1500 to 2000 into 1 ohm should be fine. You can run even less than that if you're not into beating the piss out of your equipment.

How is my statement BS. What I'm saying is that their is much more of a chance of someone clipping an amp that is too small for the speakers. Clipped signals equal fried coils. I've been in the pro sound business for several years and its a known fact and many tour companys do it that as long as you keep the power clean and un clipped you can run way more then rms rated power to a speaker. Nothing wrong with having reserve power. Headroom is a good thing and the larger amp wont have to work as hard.

Clipping doesn't blow speakers. Power is power. Doesn't matter if the signal is clipped or clean. If the average power (accounting for the clipped signal) is the same, the sub will handle it just fine. You're actually more likely to blow the sub with a much bigger amp than with a smaller amp that fully clipped can't send enough power to the sub to blow it. In fact in that case it's impossible to blow the sub with the smaller amp.
