i have 2 DC Audio XL12 m2.1 D1 sub woofers and not sure what the best amplifier to go with for them. also not sure what wiring to get as well. this is my first sound system im kind of new to this. thanks for any input.
My budget is flexible for an app got the DC Audio XL M2.1 D1 subs as a birthday present Monday from parents but didn't get no box or app with it cause they didn't know what to grab so they just got the subs. Each sub has 4400 peak and 2200rms. With my adhd I always get confused with which one u go with to see what the max bass that it puts out. Someone told me peak but one if my best friend s told me rms you go with. I'm new to the whole sound system stuff. This will be my first sound system.
For budget I would have to save for box and amp and stuff. I get $763 each month and I'll be putting $300 to $400 away towards the rest of the stuff I need.
Peak power no longer means anything. It literally has no electrical definition as it relates to car audio.
It's purely a marketing term used to increase the wow factor.
2200w rms just tells you how much power it can handle -- not how much bass it puts out.
Getting a sub like that to perform optimally requires the optimal box more than anything. DC's enclosures don't need to be huge like a lot of high output subs. They recommend 1.5-1.75 for the xl-12 and you'd need 18-24 sq in of port area tuned to the low-mid 30's.
As for power -- 1500, 2000, 2200 -- would all give you similar results. Similar enough that w/o a mic you probably wouldn't know the difference.
Probably the biggest obstacle you need to account for is your car's electrical system.
Even if you only go with 2kw total -- most stock alternators are going to struggle with that, and if you were to play it at high volume very often you could expect to blow an alternator every month or so.
Alright that's a little helpful. I'm glad I posted in here cause everyone in here knows everything bout car systems and can help a person like me out lol.
Oh really? I didn't know that. How would you suggest to approach that issue so that it's not blowing an alternator every month or every other month?
So would you suggest like a 2K watt amp? And what channel amp like 1,2,3 or 4 channel amp or does it even matter?
Alright thanks I appreciate it Alot sorry for all the questions. Just out of curiosity how many watts would u recommend for amp for subs I got. I don't wanna get too high and blow the subs you know lol. I just want to make sure everything is perfect for my first system . I was thinking bout a high output alternator. Noticed they have 240amperes up to 370 I think.
