Need a 4 ch amp that can do 100rms at 2ohm per channel

I have a kicker dx400.4 amp for my mids and highs. Good amp just one issue.

The problem is I have infinity reference component speakers that are 2 ohms each. The amp is suppose to be able to handle 2 ohms per channel but after about an hour or so of play at max it overheats and goes into protect. So now, I’m looking for another amp that can go with these speakers without breaking my already thin wallet. What do you guys suggest?

I have a BNIB MB Quart ONX 4.80 I can do for $120 shipped. Just got it in, decided I wanted something else. 160w per channel @ 2ohms. You'll have oodles of head room.

I'd suggest selling your current amp first though so you have a better budget to work with.

Not sure what your budget is but I have 2 Alpine PDX 4.100 amplifiers for 225.00 shipped (Each). 120rms at 2 or 4 ohm all day long.

Avoid the Class A/B amplifiers. You need a Class D amplifier. They handle running at 2ohms much better, specially in installs where the placement of amplifier is not optimal. Having said this, I believe the Infinity Reference speakers are not true 2ohm speakers. With the wiring taken into account, they're around 3ohm or so. I doubt that any infinity speakers have the excursion capability to handle 100watt RMS unless you set high pass crossover well over 100Hz. I think any of the Alpine MRX or MRP amplifiers could work for you. Also, the PPI Phantom P900.4 (somewhat overkill in terms of headroom, but priced cheap enough).

Why do 2 ohm mids? clarity really suffers when your push amps into 2 ohms which you really hear with mid range speakers.

Was a such a noob when I got the infinitys. didn't know they were 2 ohms per speaker. I stuck with them because its miles ahead of factory door speakers and they sound pretty good but then again I don't have much experience with component systems.
