narrowed choice to two subs

in the near future i ma going to replace my subs, my 1200.1 is killing my w3's (i love it)

ok im torn between a pair of kicker 12l7's(~$350) and a pair of Adire shivas($250)

which side should i take?

I would say go for the Shivas. I have a pair, myself, all my friends, and people that I know are amazed with them. I would not have wanted any other subs. I still thank the people in these forums who helped me see the Adire Light!

maybe i'm insane, but the last time i heard the L7, i wasn't impressed at all. i was more impressed with an 8W0. but that was in the sound board thing at my local audio place, i don't even think it was in a box.

SPL = Kicker

1.5-3 ft^3 box = Shiva

3+ ft^3 = Kicker

Throw those dam L7's in a big ported box and make em' go boom - or go with the Shiva's and sound good while you get fairly loud. Your choice.

Oh man, I am a JL fan but you must be insane to be more impressed with the 8W0 than the L7. There is no match. well im a sq junkie...so i'm going to say the shiva....also cause of wiring ease.....w/ 2 of em you'd only be looking at a 2ohm mono load......and they sound great....ive never been impressed w/ the l7's.....other than they look cool....thats jus me tho....and given your air space....the shivas would sound better w/ that amount

the guys at the local stereo shop are talking junk on the shivas, you know, "its a no name, it looks like crap"....yada yada yada, they think i would be getting duped into buying them, should i get the shivas just to shut em up.

now that's something i've never heard of, 2 10's of the same brand and model, hitting harder than 2 12's.

A lot of guys are out there competing with the 10l7 instead of the 12l7. With the right box and power, it can be done easily. I am an SPL freak so I would pick the l7 anyday. Although I have never bought any Kicker subs. But the Shiva is a whole lot of SQ and can pack some SPL. ehh, i've heard shivas are nice subs but i'd go with the L7s anyway
