Well, as it says, what is the correct to wire up an amp. I've installed 4 amps trouble free, but I never knew what order to plug stuff in.

Let's use a multichannel as an example. What I need to know is what order you plug in wires to BE SAFE and not destroy audio.

My usual procedure:

1. Ground cable

2. Remote

3. Channel wires (speakers)

4. Power cable (turn amp on , then off)

5. Plug in RCA's

This was prompted by my recent issue with killing the RCA pre-outs in my Pioneer deck. I want to know the correct order and any procedure required to not backfeed to the deck, or blow up the amp.

i usually wire everything up, speakers first. (usually check wires with dmm first) then rcas, remote turn on. then power and ground.

then after that i put in the power wire fuse.

then let it rip.

and i dont know how you can blow things up. because everything should be OFF!. (no power) and the power wire should NOT have a fuse untill after you wire the amp.

The deck damage was done during a tuning procedure...thanks to a faulty DMM and a loose ground //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif

I was actually attempting to tune for clipping, so power had to be on...

Anyways, when do the RCA's go in? Does it matter? I guess they would be safe if the ground is in *properly*, but I want confirmation on this because my confidence has plummeted after nearly having to pay another 200$ for a deck (thank God for warranty)
