n00b post, SPL questions inside

so ive got a third gen (89) camaro and my current best Db was 138.5. my setup was a pioneer avh-p5700 dvd back to a 2.5 farad cap audiobahn a800t amp powering an 06 12" L7 in a ported Probox (http://www.proboxrocks.com). my resonant freq with this setup is somwhere between 40-51 Hz. now ive bought an audiocontrol Overdrive line driver and a kenwood kac-x812d . last night i got a 138.3 untuned on the audiocontrol meter. what can i do to get into the 40s? i run only my sub during comp beacuse my other speakers are all on a seperate amp that i pull the fuse from. would wiring in another battery help out? after all is said in done which class 1 category should i compete in? BTW its dual 4s on the kicker, i want to get one with dual 2s but dont know if it will make that big of a difference. and another idea was building a new box for my sub that was tuned better. i want to stay single 12. and i want it to be able to be used as a daily driver system as well, not just a one note wonder. one of the local shops that i frequent said around 2-300 for an SPL box

close to 800 rms 2 ohm mono, i havent checked it on a DMM yet... i want to swap my dual fours for dual 2s...

is ur l7 wired to 1 or 2 ohms? the specs say 900 @ 2 ohms so thats fine ... you could try doing the big 3 + bat to get more volts to the amp but i dunno how much of a help that would be

also you could always try a new box, what are the specs on that probox?

An 06 L7 can take more than 800-900 rms for daily, and I would think definately higher for burps in comp. Toss the Audiobahn and get more power.

2.25 cu ft, low velocity vented... look up about 3 posts... im at 2 ohms mono. i have dual 4s wired to two ohms. i want to get a 06 l7 with dual 2s to run at one ohm, but im not sure if it will make that big of a difference.

The amp will probably put out more power at 1 ohm than 2 ohms so it should make a dif. What is the box tuned to?

First off, we're talkn about this box :

Id take it out, resin it and fill the corners with fiberglass matte the best you can, let the resin self level on the bottom of the box when you pour it in so it dry's to a baby's butt smoothness. If I were you id put it on the termlab after you do this and find your peak resonant fequency, because its not "40-50" its one fequency that you peak at, you NEED to know this, live and die by it.

This is obviously your amp. it only claims 919x1 at 2 ohms (and thats prob not all that even) ....throwing that 2 ohm version L7 in there will help some, and it will at least get you to 140...but I dont see you going over that with that amplifier....its just not enough horsepower when ya need it...if you havent already done it, do the big 3, maybe another battery even. You cant really change the tuning on that box without majorly hacking on it, but you could reverse mount the sub so it changes the internal volume the sub sees and thereby chaning the tuning....its a cheap test to play with since it doenst cost anything.

i just bouight that amp so im dont have the cash for another yet. i cant inverse my driver as my hatch wont close. whats a "big 3"? oh and my peak resonant with the box is 47. i was just being lazy when i posted.
