But on a lighter note...I have an Altec Lancing 8" Sitting on a 15hz tone...Gain on the plate amp set to clipping.

I'll be doing this eventually.It probably won't be jan. or feb. But, it'd also be install dependent.

True...I suppose a cap in place could help in some circumstance...but I wouldn't know what

this is rather interesting.... it makes sense that most of the time idiots that "blow" their subs with a low wattage amp, is due 100% to clipping and spikes in power due to that clipping... there was never any question in my mind that its not "correct" that underpowering a driver could blow it...

Well, I had to shur 'er down early. The POS HTIB reciever was very hot to the touch and making funny smells after running all night. But, after 12 hours of continuous play, the woofer was still ar room temperature. No blown subs here.

BTW, the MAW 12 is a dual 4 I believe.

When I bought it from Loyd, he said it was dual 2.2 nominal. I don't have my DMM up here to test it.
