only way to truthfully find out is to get a meter and test your own stuff. I mean, i doubt if you loose a whole db...but possible partial of a db....

Assuming from your post, you dont compete. I say that because if you did, you would of did your own testing before asking. And if you do loose a db or a little less than a db, i highly doubt your ears could tell.

i retract my statment about you competing. I just read the 1st page and went ahead and responded to your answer. Well since you do compete, just meter your system with carpet and without carpet. See which one is louder and run with it.

not 155 yet 152.6 best so far 5.5 cubes @ 38 Hz 84 square inches of port.that was on dash pass. side with driver window down. on a 40hz to 60hz sweep.

build ing another enclosure tuned @ 42 hz or 45 hz to see if i can get a 155.

i just do local comps and drive the car a few times a week.

but trying to keep it with in rules for MECA street rules.

No, what mic is this on. I don't think you realize how incredible a 155 score is, let alone with entry model speakers.

His 152.6 could be in the kick panel which is usually a 3-7 db difference from the windshield in those cars.

To gain I would raise the tuning of your box up. Shrink the size a little bit.

yeah, i think the carpet and seats of the vehicle do absorb the sound waves, i know they do in my car or you'd hear the bass as loud as it is in the car on the outside and it isn't it's quieter. so it does absorb it.

heh i used my walmart boom meter and hadit rest on my center console it read 130.1 db's then i placedit on the dash near the windshield and it read 135.5 db's, kickpanel same thing

i did a 146 with three re series 12''s on a memphis 1000 in a TRUNK car. I think the high tuning helped. I got loudest of the nite, and i had the littlest money into my system. And crx's are LOUD.

No, that's not true. But if your windshield flexes, then you lose dbs.
